First Term, Coming to an End

It’s been a busy term here at Capernwray. My time has been filled quicker than I could have thought — please forgive me for not keeping this up to date. Internet is a difficult thing to come by, though it’s around, it’s incredibly slow.

It seems like yesterday that I walked off the plane in a foreign land awaiting what adventures that may lie ahead. Now I’m here, living in a Castle — well, a “Manor House” as my English bud Thomas has corrected me — learning about my Lord and Saviour. All I can say is “Wow”. I know I’ve participated in this thing called life, but it seems miles away from any life I’ve experienced before. I’ve never been completely secluded from the outside world, totally enveloped in learning about a book that has the power to change lives—and ultimately—change the world.

It’s funny, it’s been a huge learning experience, but at the same time it’s been one of the toughest experiences I’ve had trying get close to God. As one of the plethora of guest lecturers has said: “It’s easier to get to be friends of friends of Jesus, than friends of Jesus.” It’s tough, but I think coming back after the break I’ll have a better understanding of how to monitor my time.

On the flip side, I’ve been getting super excited about witnessing. It’s one of the greatest forms of worship and experiences in the world to share the gift of Christ with others. Yet I know that I rarely take an active role in sharing the Gospel at this point. We had a whole series on personal evangelism — the lectures themselves didn’t get me excited, but reading, and reviewing notes all together, it got me excited to think that God has an awesome plan to save lives in His Son, and I am a part of that plan.

I’ve learned a lot in this short amount of time but it’s really tough to decompress it all. But hopefully I can keep on top of this blog stuff, and I’ll be able to share a bit more meaty stuff that’s going on.

Right now I just have an assignment I need to go work on, and tonight and tomorrow night we’re putting on a Christmas presentation for the local community — exciting

Pray for me, as I’ll be flying home on Sunday night, and I’m still battling some form of sickness… In all, I think I’ve been healthy for about 3 weeks since I’ve arrived at the castle.
