A walk through the park

What a bleak Thursday night, you think to yourself, not a star in the sky. Don’t you hate that cold gust of wind that hits you right in the face? On your way home you pass by the elementary school as you normally do, the holidays are over and in 10 hours the park will be filled with children once again.

Only the lights from the street shine upon the grounds and ahead of you, just about 20 paces, you see a large man. The man looks like he is probably wearing a long over coat and carrying two plastic bags. The man holds his left shoulder low and yet he walks as though he’s quite sure of himself.

Suddenly you notice the man does something quite peculiar. He drops the hefty bag there on the ground, and walks away with out breaking stride. He does this as if it was something people did every day. His shoulders re-align so that the left comes up beside the right, and away he goes with out so much as looking back. Concerned you feel compelled to inspect the contents of the bag. What’s in it? Why would he just leave it there?

You cautiously begin creeping towards the large open bag, but soon decide that maybe you just don’t want to make it your problem. You watch the man continue his stroll without a care in the world, as you yourself walk past the open bag. You feel a knot starting to form in your stomach. You know you can’t leave the bag there, something just won’t let you.

So, you turn back and again walk towards the bag, now with more vigor. You just want to get it over with, it can’t be that terrible. You peer in and what you see almost surprises you. Within the large bag is a case of empty beer bottles. Eleven bottles sit there staring up at you. You look up and see the man, you can catch up to him if you walk quickly.

How do you respond?

a) Continue on your way, there’s nothing wrong here
b) Pick the bag up and find the nearest garbage or recycling bin
c) Catch up to the man and confront him
d) Call the police
